Turning Recovery Into Recurring Revenue at The Space FTL
In South Florida, Socratis Christoforou is using cold plunge, sauna, and breathwork to turn The Space into the spot for community & contrast therapy.
And the model is working—generating roughly $40K+ recurring monthly membership revenue, even before drop-ins and workshops.
How It Started

After co-running a CrossFit gym in Fort Lauderdale through the early 2010s, Socratis grew fixated on a gap nobody was filling: intentional recovery.
"CrossFit does so much wear and tear, and seeing what trauma does to the body and how little support there was—that was a big awakening." – Socratis Christoforou
He got certified in breathwork facilitation and started building around a simple pairing: breath + contrast. Like 3-minutes in a cold plunge, the results were practically immediate.
How It's Going
The Space Fort Lauderdale opened in 2023 with four All-In cold plunges. Six months later, it doubled to eight. Then a second studio was added in Delray Beach with four more.
Membership scaled at a similar clip. Today, the two locations collectively serve an average of 90–100 visitors per day and carry a combined 315+ members (220 in Fort Lauderdale, 95 in Delray).
(All) In It Together

The Space offers cold plunge, infrared sauna, red light therapy, breathwork, yoga, and sound bath—all under one roof, with coaches guiding sessions. It's less spa, more community: sun exposure, conversation, trampolines.
"It's all very communal. People hang out. They talk. They support each other. They come back."
Turn on the Red Light
In addition to cold plunges, red light therapy has become a core part of The Space's recovery stack. And Socratis is bullish on the science behind it.
"Red light has a ton of research behind it for ligament repair, mitochondrial activation, skin health, pain relief — the list keeps growing."
For a facility already built around recovery, it's a natural fit—low-maintenance, high-margin, and pairs cleanly with everything else already in the room.
Smooth Operator

At The Space, the secret to running a successful cold plunge operation isn't clever marketing. It's pH levels and elbow grease.
Plunges are cleaned twice weekly, water chemistry is checked daily, and rinse-off policies are non-negotiable. The first months were trial-and-error—dialing in chemical balance, developing deep-clean protocols, building repeatable systems. Now it runs on autopilot.
His advice for operators considering contrast therapy: plan infrastructure early + build a maintenance culture from day one.
"Do your research on permits, drainage, and maintenance. Upkeep is everything. But once it's dialed in, it becomes an incredible asset for the business."
Final Word
Two locations in under two years. Triple-digit daily visits. Hundreds of monthly memberships. All built around recovery. The Space is proof that if you build it, they will come—but more importantly, if you build it right, they will keep coming back.
